You never get much humour anymore.
I remember the one on the London Olympics fondly with loads of regulars then chipping in with brilliant observations on the opening and closing ceremony. You'd get a few hours solid laughter.

Anon posters could be good value. Every now n then some older/slower poster would get taken round the bend by them thinking they were actually arguing with an actual player or something.
There was a fake Herts Hammer on here for a while that posted up really long detailed (obviously made up...) stories about an away day that always ended up with whufcroe shitting his pants
Answer= was a bit special (in a funny way) and is behind a few sayings on here people still use.
Loads of reasons WHO has died off, twitter and Facebook didn't really exist then either so forums like this was where people went on and talked online, now people just go on socials.
Was probably just as much bickering it just got lost among everything else, now its almost all that's left.

I would almost agree with you, but I felt that the Brexit thread was fairly entertaining while Brexit posts remained on that thread.
The trouble was that it spawned several bastard child threads, (nearly) all started by posters who were getting Muellered on the main thread and yet still wanted to impose their views on the rest of the site.
I post this fully acknowledging my role in padding out said Brexit thread.
